Gary Paulsen: Dogsledding
Gary Pausen loved to dogsled in his free time. In fact, some of his books
were based on events during dogsledding. His lead dog was 3 years old. His name
was Buck. He usually had 8 to 9 dogs on his sled team. Dogsledding can be dangerous at times.
Once, he had to be rescued by a helicopter because he was in a blizzard and couldn't continue. Another danger of dogsledding is a moose attack. Gary Paulsen was attacked by moose a few different times. Once a moose could have stomped on his ribcage, if he had not protected himself in time. But he still loved dogsledding and the dangers it included.

Iditarod
The Iditarod is the most known dogsledding race in the world. I had found out about this race by researching and reading an article about it. Gary Paulsen had entered this race in 1983. This race is 1150 miles long. With a team of 12-16 dogs, mushers must endure the treaturous terrain, and harsh weather. The Iditarod is located in South Central Alaska, but people from all over come to race. It has won the worldwide acclaim of interest award. It's nickname is the "Last Great Race on Earth". With stunning nature and dangerous animals, this race is both breath-taking and dangerous.
